Feng Xianzhong’s team from Northeast Institute of Geography and Agricultural Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered the GmCCD4 gene that regulates soybean carotenoid content
By: Date: 2020-12-21 Categories: foodtechnology Tags: ,

Feng Xianzhong’s team from Northeast Institute of Geography and Agricultural Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences screened the gamma-ray mutagenized soybean mutant library and obtained 4 gmicc mutant lines with yellowing flower color and increased carotenoid content in seeds. Using the constructed map-location clone population, the candidate gene was successfully located:GmCCD4, which encodes carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase, which degrades carotenoids to produce β-ionone, which is a negative regulator of carotenoid accumulation.
