The United States Federal Register on July 19, 2022 reported that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued the”standards for the planting, harvesting, packaging and preservation of products for human consumption”. The new standards will be published in the Federal Register on July 20, with a feedback period of 30 days. The purpose of this standard is to minimize the risk of serious adverse health consequences caused by eating contaminated agricultural products and food, and it will be incorporated into part 112 of the food and drug title (cfr21) of the United States Federal Code. The standard stipulates the procedures and processes for collecting information related to agricultural products and food, so as to ensure that the products entering the market are not related to foodborne diseases. For example, the standard requires the development of monitoring and sampling plans, records and training, as well as ensuring that the products for human consumption meet these requirements. The regulation also stipulates certain exemptions and changes to some products such as bean sprouts.
