The southern red and yellow soil region accounts for about 22.7%of China’s land area, and is an important grain production base in China. Unreasonable agricultural production measures have further aggravated the problems of soil acid, thin and sticky, which not only seriously restricted the improvement of rice productivity in China, but also increased the risk of ecological environment. From July 13 to 18, 2022, liuhongbin, a post expert of the national rice industry technology system and a researcher of the Institute of agricultural resources and agricultural zoning of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and his delegation went to Wuhan, Jingzhou, Ezhou, Qianjiang, Tianmen and other places in Hubei Province to conduct a special investigation on rice field pollution control and productivity improvement, and held a seminar.
The research team surveyed the demonstration base of coordinated improvement of paddy field pollution control and productivity in Ezhou, Hubei Province, investigated the long-term positioning monitoring test of non-point source pollution in paddy fields of rice rotation and the positioning test of straw returning to the field, and held a discussion with the relevant person in charge of xinyangfeng Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. on the R & D and production of new fertilizers; Researcher you Aiqing, the head of Wuhan Comprehensive Experimental Station of national rice industry technology system, and researcher Xie Lei, the head of Jingzhou comprehensive experimental station, introduced in detail the basic situation of the experimental station and the ongoing field experiments such as high-quality rice product ratio, duck frog rice ecological planting and breeding, and paddy soil organic matter improvement. During the on-site investigation, researcher Liu Hongbin’s team, researcher you Aiqing’s team and researcher Xie Lei’s team had an exchange on the characteristics and major needs of rice production in Jianghan Plain, and reached a cooperation intention on the next step of the exchange and interaction of post experts and comprehensive experimental stations and the construction of demonstration bases.
On July 18, the research group held an online expert seminar. Li Dongchu, senior agronomist of Qiyang comprehensive experimental station of national rice industry technology system, researcher xuchangxu of Jiangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, researcher Huiping of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, researcher fan Xianpeng of Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and researcher Ji Xionghui of Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences were invited to make a special report on the direction and existing problems of rice straw in red and yellow soil areas, soil obstacles in paddy fields and ways to improve soil fertility, rice seedling cultivation and transplanting methods and improvement methods. The experts at the meeting discussed in depth the current problems in rice substrate seedling raising, soil farming, straw returning to the field, and water and fertilizer management in southern China, analyzed the main causes of non-point source pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in rice fields, and formed a preliminary consensus on the joint development of collaborative technology to improve the productivity of rice fields in southern China.
