The EU allocated 567.1 million euros to the French fisheries plan from 2021 to 2027. With state funding, the total financial allocation for the new plan period was 793.3 million euros.

The fund aims to support the French fisheries and aquaculture industry by promoting green and digital transformation, adjusting product supply to consumer expectations, maintaining small-scale coastal fishing, improving rapid recovery capacity, and promoting innovation.

The programme will support the reorganization and modernization of fishing fleets, the completion of fishing missions, the improvement of the selectivity of fishing gear, and the improvement of knowledge and management of marine protected areas.

In general, the plan will enhance the resilience of the fisheries, aquaculture and processing sectors by helping enterprises cope with climate change and health events, as well as mitigating the impact of crises such as the epidemic and the impact of the UK’s brexit.
