Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drugs and the Customs Office coordinated inspections during customs clearance to prevent the influx of direct purchases of harmful food

Food Partner Network News On July 19, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea issued a message saying:May 24 to June 30, 2021, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea and the Korean Customs Service Centralized safety inspections were carried out on direct-purchased foods imported by express and mail. As a result, about 110,000 pieces (681 pieces) of direct-purchased foods containing illegally added substances such as drugs were investigated and dealt with.

   During this intensive inspection, 204 products containing sleep aids such as melatonin and 197 products that improve sexual function were investigated and dealt with. Foods containing harmful ingredients accounted for 59%of all unqualified foods. Foods with unapproved pharmaceutical ingredients and foods containing impotence treatment agents.
