Uganda Revises Standards for Malted Cereal Beverages

   On April 6, 2021, the National Bureau of Standards of Uganda issued Circular G/SPS/N/GA/148 to revise the standard for malted oatmeal beverages. The main revisions are:

  1. Product range:straw grains such as barley, wheat, millet, sorghum, oats or corn flour, among which starchy grains are used as food;
  2. Product standards include:general sensory quality requirements, basic composition, nutrients, food additives, pollutants:heavy metal lead, mercury, cadmium, inorganic arsenic content requirements, pesticide residues, aflatoxin, microbial content requirements, product labels Requirements, sampling requirements, etc.
  The feedback period for this notification is June 2021.
