The Philippines’ first-quarter rice output increased by 7.2%and corn output increased by 9%

According to a report by the Philippine”Star” on April 15, the Philippine Bureau of Statistics showed that in the first quarter, the rice output was 4.57 million tons, an increase of 7.2%year-on-year, and the harvested area was 1.15 million hectares, an increase of 4.6%year-on-year. The yield per hectare increased from 3.88. Tons increased to 3.98 tons. Currently, about 530,000 hectares have been harvested, accounting for 49.8%. During this period, 85%have been actually planted. Of the rice that will be harvested in the second quarter, 24.2%are currently in the growth phase, 38.4%are in the development phase, and 37.4%are in the maturity phase.

  The yield of corn was 2.5 million tons, an increase of 9%year-on-year. The harvested area was 700,000 hectares, and the yield per hectare increased from 3.36 tons to 3.57 tons. Currently, about 450,000 hectares have been harvested, accounting for 59.3%. During this period, 71.4%have been actually planted. Of the corn to be harvested in the second quarter, 24.9%are currently in the growing period, 30.9%are in the development period, and 44.2%are in the mature period.
