The Department of Animals and Plants of the General Administration of Customs, the Department of Supervision, and the Department of Risk, issued a warning notice on preventing the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease in Mauritius (Zhong Zhi Han [2021] No. 25)

   On March 27, 2021, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) announced that an O-type foot-and-mouth disease outbreak occurred on a farm in Rodriguez, Mauritius, involving 57 cattle of susceptible animals. In order to protect the safety of our country’s animal husbandry and prevent the spread of the epidemic, in accordance with the “Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the “Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China” and its implementation regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations, we hereby release information on preventing the spread of foot and mouth disease in Mauritius Incoming warning notice:
   1. It is forbidden to import cloven hoofed animals and related products directly or indirectly from Mauritius.
   2. Intensify the quarantine and inspection of parcels and passengers carried from Mauritius. Once cloven-hoofed animals and related products from Mauritius are found, they will be returned or destroyed.
  3. If cloven hoofed animals and related products from Mauritius are found on entry ships, aircraft and other means of transport, they shall be sealed for storage, and they shall not be opened for use without customs permission during their stay or operation in my country . All the waste and swill shall be treated in a harmless manner under the supervision of the customs and shall not be discarded without authorization. If an epidemic of foot-and-mouth disease is found on the means of transportation, the contaminated or potentially contaminated area shall be supervised and disinfected in accordance with the law.
   4. The illegal entry of cloven hoofed animals and related products from Mauritius intercepted by border defense departments shall be destroyed under the supervision of the customs.
   5. Anyone who violates the above regulations shall be dealt with by the customs in accordance with the”Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the”Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China” and the relevant provisions of its implementing regulations.
   6. All customs units shall continue to strictly carry out quarantine work in accordance with the”Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the”Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China” and its implementation regulations.
   Seven. This warning notice remains effective until adjustments are made.
