The case of cowpea with pesticide residues exceeding the limit of food safety standards in Yankai Supermarket in Qixia City, Shandong Province

   On September 9, 2020, Qixia City Market Supervision Administration conducted daily supervision and random inspection of cowpeas operated by Yankai Supermarket in Qixia City. After being tested by Shandong Lujian Testing Technology Service Co., Ltd., Omethoate did not meet the requirements and the test results were unqualified. On October 19, 2020, the Qixia Market Supervision and Administration Bureau filed an investigation into the Yankai Supermarket in Qixia City.
  According to investigations, the Yankai Supermarket in Qixia City has been dealing in cowpeas with pesticide residues exceeding the limit of food safety standards. The above-mentioned illegal actions of the company violated Article 34 (2) of the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China. On February 4, 2021, Qixia Market Supervision and Administration Bureau shall comply with Article 124, Paragraph 1 (1) of the”Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China” and Article 27 of the”Administrative Punishment Law of the People’s Republic of China” According to the provisions of item (4) of the first paragraph, the company shall be punished as follows:
  1. Confiscate the illegal income of RMB two yuan and a whole (¥2.80);
  2. A fine of five thousand yuan (¥5000.00).
   The total of the above-mentioned fines and confiscated items 1 and 2 totals RMB 5,000 and 2 yuan (¥5002.80).
