The 4th International Sugar Industry Conference was successfully held in Morocco

  Mercedes Media reported on March 22 that the 4th International Sugar Industry Conference was successfully held. The conference was jointly organized by the Moroccan Sugar Professional Association (APS) and the International Sugar Organization. More than 430 experts from various countries participated in the conference. The meeting reviewed the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic on global industries, especially the challenges to agricultural water use and food security, and emphasized the socio-economic role of the industry. The meeting also introduced Morocco’s new”green generation” strategy (2020-2030), and the progress made by the Moroccan sugar industry in improving agricultural and industrial competitiveness and digital sugar production. The meeting pointed out that the new crown epidemic has had a major impact on world sugar consumption. Up to now, it has decreased by 800,000 tons year-on-year. It is estimated that the world sugar production will drop by about 2 million tons from 2020 to 2021, with a gap of 4.8 million tons.
