Yonhap News Agency, Seoul, April 4th. South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Food said on the 4th that the cumulative export value of agricultural and sideline products in the first quarter of this year increased by 13.7%year-on-year to US$1.981 billion, a record high.
Specifically, the export of fresh agricultural products increased by 9.3%year-on-year to US$359 million. Kimchi exports increased by 54.4%year-on-year to US$47 million. Grape exports increased by 49.7%year-on-year to US$7 million. Under the epidemic, the demand for convenience food continued to increase, and the export value of processed food increased by 14.7%year-on-year to US$1.622 billion. The export of instant noodles increased by 18.9%year-on-year to US$157 million. Beverage exports increased by 16.8%year-on-year to 112 million U.S. dollars.
From the perspective of export destinations, exports to ASEAN, India and other new southern policy partners, China, the United States and other places have achieved double-digit growth. Exports to the new southern region amounted to US$457 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.0%. Exports to China increased by 22.3%year-on-year to US$292 million.
