Rift Valley Fever outbreak in Madagascar

  Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on April 2, 2021, Madagascar reported to OIE that there were two outbreaks of Rift Valley Fever in Madagascar.

   The outbreak occurred in the towns of Ankazoabo-Sud and Toliary Urban in the Atsimo-Andrefana district. It was confirmed on April 1, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Clinical and laboratory tests revealed that 300 goats were suspected of being infected, of which 110 were ill; 154 sheep were suspected of being infected, of which 22 were ill; and another 10 cattle were ill.
  The epidemic is not over yet, Madagascar will submit a follow-up report every week.
