H5N8 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Outbreak in Berlin, Germany

Food Partners News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on April 9, 2021, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture reported to OIE that a H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza occurred in Germany epidemic.

   The outbreak occurred in Berlin, which was confirmed on March 2, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Clinical and laboratory tests revealed that 10 poultry were suspected of being infected, and all of them became ill and died.
  The epidemic is still continuing, and the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture will submit a follow-up report every week.
