With the improvement of living standards, people are paying more and more attention to their own health. The tableware we use every day is closely related to our health, and we should not be careless. All countries have strict requirements on the quality and safety of tableware. What should I pay attention to when importing and exporting tableware?
The main material of import and export tableware
The main ingredient of this tableware is made of clay, which is beautiful and practical. With the addition of colored glaze to increase the detailed patterns, with some carvings, it shows the charm of traditional handicrafts and is rich in history and culture.
Glass tableware is clean and hygienic, does not contain toxic substances, and is transparent and beautiful, but it is fragile. At present, many tableware made of glass use tempered glass. The surface of tempered glass is bright, hard, corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant, easy to clean, and non-toxic.
There are a wide range of metal materials selected for metal tableware, mainly including the following:stainless steel, aluminum, copper, silver, titanium, etc.
enamel products have good mechanical strength, strong, not easy to break, and have good heat resistance, can withstand a wide range of temperature changes. The texture is smooth, compact and not easy to be contaminated with dust, clean and durable. The disadvantage of enamel products is that they tend to crack and break after being impacted by external forces.
Melamine tableware, also known as melamine tableware, is a high-molecular polymer. The English abbreviation is MF. The tableware is made of melamine formaldehyde resin, cellulose as the base material, and pigments and other additives. It is lightweight Beautiful and able to withstand low temperatures.
Imported tableware needs to pay attention to:
Imported tableware (food contact products) must meet my country’s national quality and safety standards and related inspection requirements. The customs inspects imported tableware (food contact products) in accordance with the GB4806.1-2016 standard. Importing companies should submit relevant materials such as the declaration of conformity to the GB4806.1-2016 standard during customs declaration.
Matters needing attention when exporting tableware:
According to the”Memorandum of Understanding on the Issues of Ceramics for Preparing, Holding or Storage of Food and Beverage Exported to the United States”, China also implements a factory certification system for domestic ceramics exported to the United States. Exporting companies should understand the relevant standards and access requirements of the destination country in detail before exporting, and strictly control the inspection of raw materials and finished products to achieve smooth export.
Main domestic and foreign standard system
China:The National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Food and Drug Administration have issued 53 national food safety standards including the”National Food Safety Standards and General Safety Requirements for Food Contact Materials and Products” (GB4806.1-2016), which also includes additives GB9685 , Enamel, ceramics, glass, plastic (resin), paper and cardboard, metal, paint and coating, rubber and other material products 9 product standards, as well as 39 specific substance test method standards. Together with the previously issued GB4806.2 pacifiers, GB31603 General Hygienic Regulations for Production and GB31604.1 General Rules for Migration Tests, as well as GB31604.2 and other method standards, my country has basically formed a new national standard system for food contact materials and products (hereinafter referred to as food contact materials). .
European Union:In the form of issuing regulations and directives, ceramic tableware and other related food contact products are required to be divided into three levels:the first level is the”general measures” applicable to all food contact products; the second level is applicable to”Specific measures” for certain types of materials, such as Directive 84/500/EEC for food-contact ceramic products; the third level is”individual measures” for specific substances, such as the 1st revision of the EU Directive 2005/31/EC.
United States:Food and food contact materials corresponding management regulations can be divided into three parts:①”Federal Food, Drugs and Cosmetics Act”; ②”Federal Regulations and Regulations”; ③”Compliance Policy Guidelines” (CPG ).
Japan:The main food safety laws are the Food Sanitation Law and the Food Safety Law. Standards are divided into three categories:general standards, category standards and special-purpose standards. General standards stipulate the content of heavy metals, especially lead, in food contact materials and products; standards for metal cans, glass, ceramics, rubber, and 13 types of polymers have been established.
China Customs strengthens inspection and supervision of imported food contact products and risk monitoring to effectively safeguard the health and safety of consumers. Take Chengdu Customs as an example. In the past five years, 290 batches of import and export tableware have been tested for decolorization, potassium permanganate consumption, total migration, heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, etc.), plasticizers and organics. And so on.
Risk reminder:Unqualified tableware contains excessive amounts of metal ions such as lead, cadmium and mercury, as well as harmful substances such as benzene, toluene, and plasticizers that migrate into the food, causing harm to the human body and increasing the risk of human cancer.
The Chinese label of imported tableware is an important part of the product instructions and an important reference for consumers to choose and use correctly. When purchasing imported tableware, you must check whether it has Chinese labels or whether the label information is complete and clear.
Please purchase imported tableware through formal channels.
Imported tableware (food contact products) safety testing should consult a qualified professional organization.
