A H5N5 highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak in Russia

  Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on April 14, 2021, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reported to OIE that a highly pathogenic H5N5 influenza A outbreak occurred in Russia.

   The outbreak occurred in Astrakhan Region, which was confirmed on March 31, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory testing revealed that 99 pelicans had become ill and died.
   At present, Russia has taken measures such as screening and disinfection. The epidemic has not yet ended. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture will submit follow-up reports every week.
