(People’s Daily) The 46th Japan International Food and Beverage Exhibition (Foodex Japan 2021) was held on March 9th in Chiba City, Japan. Companies from many countries and regions, including Vietnamese companies, participated in the exhibition.

In previous years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam has organized a corporate delegation to participate in the Japan International Food and Beverage Exhibition, showcased and promoted products on the spot, and directly discussed cooperation issues with Japanese partners. However, in 2021, the new crown pneumonia epidemic is still complicated and severe, affecting the exchanges between countries, and many Vietnamese companies cannot go to Japan to participate in this exhibition.
Despite this, the Vietnam Office of Commerce in Japan still calls on domestic companies to exhibit their products in Vietnam’s booths, promote domestic products to international friends, and maintain the status of Vietnamese product brands in the Japanese market. Therefore, nearly 20 domestic companies shipped their products to Japan to promote their products at this exhibition, including rice noodles, dried rice noodles, fruits, omelets, cashews, organic spices, fish sauce and coffee.
Xie Deming, Commercial Counselor of the Commercial Office of Vietnam in Japan, said that due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, many Vietnamese companies cannot go to Japan to participate in this conference. Therefore, Vietnam hopes to promote the products of Vietnamese companies to Japanese consumers and importers through this exhibition, to enhance the trade exchanges and commodity transactions between the two countries, so as to increase the export value of Vietnamese agricultural products and food to the market.
The Japan International Food and Beverage Exhibition was held for the first time in 1976 and is the largest international food and beverage exhibition in Japan. In 2019, the exhibition attracted 3,316 companies from 94 countries and regions, and the number of visitors reached 80,426.
As planned, this exhibition will end on March 12. (End)
