An artificial intelligence analysis report recently released by the Korea Trade Association Institute of International Trade and Commerce shows that with the increase in the frequency of home dining under the epidemic, the export volume of Korean quick-frozen dumplings in 2020 will increase by 46.2%year-on-year, reaching US$50.89 million, a record high.
The report conducted a comprehensive evaluation of 58 countries’ gross domestic product (GDP), population, import growth and other 9 major indicators. The results showed that the country with the largest export potential of Korean quick-frozen dumplings is the United States (76.6 points), followed by Japan and Germany (76 points each).
Currently, the U.S. is the largest export market for Korean quick-frozen dumplings. Last year’s export value increased by 49.6%year-on-year to US$11.74 million. Its share of the overall frozen dumpling import market in the U.S. has also increased from 1.6%in 2019 to 2020. Of 2.7%, surpassing China (sixth) for the first time and jumped to fourth place. To cater to this trend, major dumpling export companies such as South Korea’s Shinsegae Foods and CJ CheilJedang have recently built new factories in the United States to accelerate their entry into the local market.
The report also shows that the export of Korean quick-frozen dumplings has increased by 23.4%annually in the past five years. Shen Hye-jeong, the chief researcher of the Trade Association, said that Korean dumplings have thin skins and many ways to eat, steam, boil, and fry.
