The main suppliers of frozen octopus are Mauritania, China, the Philippines and Venezuela. 51%of the frozen octopus is from Mauritania, about 79 tons are from Mauritania, 23%(about 35 tons) are from China, and 16%(about 25 tons) From Indonesia, 8%(approximately 13 tons) from the Philippines, 1%(approximately 2 tons) from Venezuela.
The highest price of frozen octopus in Mauritania is US$8.05 per kg; the price of frozen octopus in the Philippines is US$5.92 per kg; the price of frozen octopus in China is US$6.91 per kg; and the price of frozen octopus in Indonesia is US$3.96 per kg.
Frozen octopus imports in February amounted to US$280,000, a year-on-year decrease of 82%.
