Jiangsu announced 5 batches of unqualified samples involving veterinary drug residues, microbial contamination and quality indicators

  Food Partner Network News On March 26, the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision Administration announced that it recently completed 527 batches of food safety supervision and sampling tasks, involving biscuits, roasted seeds and nuts products, and grains. Processed products, edible agricultural products, vegetable products, beverages and other foods, including 522 qualified samples and 5 batches of unqualified samples.
   Among them, two batches of samples were found to have veterinary drug residues, including:Perch sold by Zhang Hong, No. C022, Jiahui Chengbei Farmer’s Market, Sucheng District, and Eel sold by Chen Jinlong Aquatic Products Management Department, Dongkan Town, Binhai County, Yancheng City. It was found that enrofloxacin (calculated as the sum of enrofloxacin and ciprofloxacin) did not meet the requirements of national food safety standards.
  Enrofloxacin is a third-generation quinolone drug, a class of synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial drugs, used to treat animal skin infections, respiratory tract infections, etc., and is an animal exclusive drug. GB 31650—2019″National Food Safety Standard Maximum Residue Limit of Veterinary Drugs in Food” stipulates that the maximum residue limit of enrofloxacin (calculated as the sum of enrofloxacin and ciprofloxacin) in fish (skin + meat) is 100μg /kg. Long-term consumption of food that exceeds enrofloxacin may lead to accumulation in the human body, thereby causing harm to human functions, and may also cause the human body to produce drug-resistant strains.
   In addition, microbial contamination was detected in 1 batch of samples, which is:the lemon-flavored soda produced by Wuxi Yonglin Beverage Co., Ltd. and Wuxi Yonglin Beverage Co., Ltd., sold by Changzhou Oushang Supermarket Co., Ltd. The total number of colonies and yeast do not meet the requirements of national food safety standards.
   The total number of bacterial colonies is an indicative microbial index, which is mainly used to evaluate the cleanliness of food and reflect whether the food meets the hygienic requirements during the production process. Yeasts are widely found in nature and have strong”glycolysis” ability to sugars and lipids. They can decompose organic matter to harm food and cause food to spoil.”GB 7101-2015 National Food Safety Standard Beverage” stipulates that the total number of colonies in soda water should meet the requirements of n=5, c=2, m=100CFU/mL, M=10000CFU/mL, and yeast should meet the requirements of ≤20CFU/mL .
   In addition, two batches of samples were found to have quality index problems, namely:the fish skin peanuts produced by Ningbo Yinzhou Fuzhihua Food Co., Ltd. sold at Henglin Ledegou Non-staple Food Supermarket in Wujin District, Changzhou City ( Coated peanuts) detected peroxide value (calculated as fat) that did not meet the national food safety standards; black sesame seeds sold at Zhao Haitao Tobacco and Liquor Department Store in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing, detected acid value (calculated as fat) did not meet the national food safety standards Regulations.
   The peroxide value mainly reflects whether the fat in the food is oxidized and deteriorated. As the fat oxidizes, the peroxide value will gradually increase. The acid value mainly reflects the rancidity of fats and oils in food. Excessive acid value will cause food to have a hala taste, and the aldehydes, ketones, and acids produced when exceeding the standard will destroy fat-soluble vitamins and cause gastrointestinal discomfort.”GB 19300-2014 National Food Safety Standard Nuts and Seed Foods” stipulates that the peroxide value of cooked nuts and seed foods (except cooked sunflower seeds) should be ≤0.50g/100g, and the acid value of nuts and seed foods ≤3mg/g.
   Regarding the unqualified food found in the supervision and random inspection, the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision Administration has instructed the relevant district-cities market supervision departments to immediately organize the disposal work, find out the flow of products, and urge enterprises to take measures such as removing the unqualified products from the shelves and recalling them Control risks, deal with violations of laws and regulations in accordance with the law, and promptly disclose to the public the risk prevention and control measures taken by the enterprise and the verification and handling conditions.
