Foreign media news on March 8:According to industry sources, Argentina’s japonica rice production is expected to increase by about 12%this year to 100,000 tons. Because of the short growth cycle of japonica rice, farmers switched to japonica rice and the rainfall was good.
This year, Uruguayan japonica rice production is expected to increase by 1 to 2%. Japonica rice usually accounts for about 5%of Uruguay’s total rice production.
However, a trader said that the shortage of water supply may restrict the prospect of japonica rice production.
