H5N8 highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak in Algeria

Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on March 30, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries of Algeria reported to OIE that an H5N8 highly pathogenic type A had occurred in Algeria Influenza epidemic.

γ€€γ€€ The outbreak occurred in Oued Taga Town, Batna. It was confirmed on February 24, 2021. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. Clinical, autopsy, and laboratory tests revealed that 3 Hooded Thrushes became ill and died.
γ€€γ€€The epidemic has not yet ended. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries of Algeria will submit a follow-up report every week.
