First African Swine Fever Outbreak in Magadan Region, Russia

  Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on March 24, 2021, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reported to OIE that an outbreak of African swine fever had occurred in Russia.

   The place of occurrence of this epidemic is Magadan, Russia. It was confirmed on March 12, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Clinical and laboratory tests revealed that 36 pigs were suspected of being infected, of which 5 were sick, 1 died, and 35 were killed and disposed of.
  The epidemic has not yet ended, and the Russian Ministry of Agriculture will submit a follow-up report every week.
