Chongqing announces 19 batches of unqualified food, nearly half of them have food additives detected

  Food Partner Network News On March 5, the Chongqing Municipal Market Supervision Administration announced that the bureau recently organized random inspections of biscuits, catering food, tea and related products, roasted food and nut products, and egg products 1984 batches of samples of 23 types of food including, starch and starch products, soy products, convenience foods, bee products, pastries, wines, processed grain products, meat products, dairy products, and edible agricultural products. Sampling inspection items included 1965 batches of qualified samples and 19 batches of unqualified samples.
  Almost half of the unqualified samples have food additives detected
   Among the unqualified samples, 9 batches of samples were found to have problems with food additives, accounting for about half of all unqualified samples. Among them, Agaricus blazei Murrill sold by Ren Yaomei Food Business Department in Jiangbei District found that the residual amount of sulfur dioxide did not meet the requirements of the national food safety standards; it was sold by Xu Kaiying (Xu Yaomei old steamed buns) at the No. 2 facade, No. 26 Renmin West Road, Fuling District, Chongqing City. The aluminum residue detected in the fried dough stick (dry sample, calculated as Al) does not meet the requirements of the national food safety standards.
   Sulfur dioxide, potassium metabisulfite, and sodium sulfite are commonly used bleaching agents and preservatives in food processing, and sulfur dioxide residues will be produced after use. The”National Food Safety Standard Food Additives Use Standard” (GB 2760-2014) stipulates that the maximum limit of sulfur dioxide residues in dried edible fungi and algae is 0.05g/kg. After entering the human body, sulfur dioxide is finally converted into sulfate and excreted in urine. A small amount of intake will not cause health hazards to the body, but excessive consumption may cause gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and vomiting.
   Potassium aluminum sulfate (also known as potassium alum), aluminum ammonium sulfate (also known as ammonium alum) are commonly used leavening agents and stabilizers in food processing, and aluminum residues will be produced after use. The”National Food Safety Standard Food Additives Use Standard” (GB 2760-2014) stipulates that the residual amount of aluminum in fried noodle products is ≤100mg/kg.
   In addition, ethyl maltol was found to be inconsistent with the national food safety standards in 2 batches of samples:the blend of edible plants sold by Pengrui Supermarket in Shapingba District and nominally produced by Chongqing Chushuang Sesame Oil Condiment Factory Oil; the pure sesame oil produced by Chongqing Chushuang Sesame Oil Condiment Factory, sold at Century Yonghui Life Supermarket in Kaizhou District.
  Ethyl maltol is a flavor enhancer, which has a significant effect on improving and enhancing the flavor of food, and can extend the storage period of food. The”National Food Safety Standard Food Additives Use Standard” (GB2760-2014) stipulates that vegetable oils and fats must not be added with food spices and flavors. Excessive consumption of ethyl maltol can affect the liver and may cause headache, nausea, and vomiting.

  Pesticide and veterinary drug residues detected in 2 batches of samples
   Among the unqualified samples, 2 batches of samples were found to have pesticide and veterinary drug residues. Among them, chlorpyrifos (common cabbage) sold in the second ring north road store of Hengxinda Farm in Dazu District, Chongqing City, detected chlorpyrifos that did not meet the national food safety standards.
  Chlorpyrifos, also known as chlorpyrifos, is currently one of the most widely used organophosphate pesticides in the world. It has the effects of contact killing, stomach poisoning and fumigation. The National Food Safety Standard Maximum Residue Limit of Pesticides in Food (GB 2763-2019) stipulates that the maximum residue limit of chlorpyrifos in ordinary cabbage is 0.1 mg/kg.

   Among the unqualified samples, one batch of samples was found to be contaminated by mycotoxins. The peanuts sold by the non-staple food business department of Jingjun, Changshou District, detected aflatoxin B1, which did not meet the national food safety standards.
   Aflatoxin B1 is a strong carcinogenic chemical substance. The”National Food Safety Standard Limits of Mycotoxins in Foods” (GB 2761-2017) stipulates that the maximum limit of aflatoxin B1 in peanuts and their products is 20μg/kg. The reason for the unqualified aflatoxin B1 may be that the company did not strictly select the raw materials and carried out relevant tests when purchasing, or the raw materials were collected and stored and transported improperly, which caused the product to be contaminated by Aspergillus flavus and produce toxin; it may also be the product.   7 batches of samples detected quality index problems
   Among the unqualified samples, 7 batches of samples were found to have quality index problems.   Peroxide value (calculated as fat) mainly reflects whether the fat in the food is oxidized and deteriorated. As the oil in the product oxidizes, the peroxide value will gradually increase, and generally will not harm human health. However, eating substandard products will cause gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea and other symptoms.”GB 19300-2014 National Food Safety Standard Nuts and Seed Foods” stipulates that the peroxide value in cooked sunflower seeds should be ≤0.8g/100g, and the peroxide value in cooked other nuts and seeds should be ≤0.5g/100g.
