An outbreak of Peste des petits ruminants in Algeria

  Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on March 25, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture of Algeria reported to OIE that an outbreak of Peste des petits ruminants occurred in Algeria.

   The place where the epidemic occurred was Guelma City, Algeria. It was confirmed on February 3, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. According to clinical and laboratory tests, 35 goats were suspected of being infected and all of them became ill, of which 19 died, and 16 were killed and disposed of.
  The epidemic is not over yet, and the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture will submit a follow-up report every week.
