A foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in Mauritius

  Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on March 26, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Safety of Mauritius reported to OIE that a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak occurred in Mauritius.

   The outbreak occurred in Rodriguez District, Mauritius. It was confirmed on March 25, 2021. The source of the outbreak is unknown or uncertain. After clinical, autopsy and laboratory tests, it was found that 57 cattle were suspected of being infected, and 16 of them had hair disease.
   At present, Mauritius has adopted measures such as official disposal, disinfection and isolation of corpses, by-products and waste. The epidemic is not over yet, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Safety of Mauritius will submit follow-up reports every week.
