The Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection Service stated in a statement that the import of live poultry and poultry products from Estonia will be banned from February 25 due to the worsening of the highly pathogenic avian influenza epidemic.

The ban applies to the import of live poultry, hatching eggs, poultry meat, poultry products to Russia, excluding processed goods to ensure the elimination of avian influenza virus; poultry feed and feed additives, but excluding vegetable feed And its additives, as well as chemical and microbiologically synthesized additives. In addition, the transportation of live poultry through Russian territory is restricted.
The ban particularly affects the import of live poultry and hatching eggs, because the import of poultry and poultry products from EU countries has been restricted by Russia’s food import ban that took effect in August 2014.
