H5N5 highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak in Sweden

Food Partners News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on February 15, 2021, the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation reported to OIE that two cases of H5N5 highly pathogenic influenza A occurred in Sweden epidemic.

   The two outbreaks occurred in Staffanstorp, Skåne and Westvik, Kalmar, and were confirmed on December 7, 2020. The source of the epidemic was exposure to wild species. Laboratory testing revealed that one white-cheeked Brant Goose became ill and was killed and disposed of. Another magpie duck became ill and died.
  The epidemic is still continuing, and the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation will submit a follow-up report every week.
