First highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak in Latvia

Food Partners News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on February 10, 2021, the Food and Veterinary Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia reported to OIE that a H5N8 highly pathogenic type A had occurred in Latvia Flu epidemic.

   The place where the outbreak occurred is Jurmala, which was confirmed on February 9, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory tests revealed that 2 mute swans became ill and died.
  The epidemic is not over yet, and the Food and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia will submit follow-up reports every week.
