First highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak in Estonia

Food Partners News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on February 12, 2021, the Estonian Veterinary and Food Committee reported to OIE that a H5N8 highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak occurred in Estonia .

   The outbreak occurred in Tallinn, Harju County, and was confirmed on February 12, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory tests revealed that one mute swan became ill and died.
   The epidemic is still continuing, and the Estonian Veterinary and Food Committee will submit a follow-up report every week.
