According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the national milk production in 2020 is 34.4 million tons, an increase of 2.39 million tons from 2019, an increase of 7.46%. In the fourth quarter, the national milk production was 11.11 million tons, an increase of 2.13 million tons or 23.7%month-on-month, and an increase of 630,000 tons or 6.0%year-on-year. In the fourth quarter, the output and production efficiency of fresh milk rose steadily.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs’ tracking and monitoring of the fresh milk production of the nationally issued fresh milk purchasing stations, since September 2019, the domestic fresh milk production has continued to increase, and as of June 2020, it has been continuously increasing by 9 Months. In the third quarter of 2020, production began to decline and stabilized in September. In the fourth quarter of 2020, output stabilized and continued to grow. In December, the fresh milk production index of the nationally issued fresh milk purchasing stations was 120.65 (using January 2015 as the base period of 100).

As of the end of the fourth quarter of 2020, the number of farms involved in the nationally issued fresh milk purchase stations decreased by 7.4%month-on-month and 11.3%year-on-year; the number of dairy cows involved increased by 2.2%month-on-month and 8.5%year-on-year. The average inventory of fresh milk purchase stations involved in farms increased by 10.4%month-on-month and 22.3%year-on-year.
