Ukraine exempts tariffs on wine imports from the EU

   The Ukrainian Independent News Agency reported on January 4 that in order to fulfill the obligations of the economic part of the Uzbek-Europe Association Agreement, Ukraine has cancelled the import tariffs on wine since January 1 this year. The economic part of the Uzbek-Europe Association Agreement stipulates that within 7 years of the signing of the agreement, Ukraine should gradually exempt import tariffs on a series of EU products, including wine. Previously, the tariffs on wine imported by Ukraine from the EU were 0.3-0.4 euros per liter.

   In 2019, Ukraine’s wine exports totaled US$11.9 million. The main export destination countries are Kazakhstan (1.3 million US dollars) and Germany (1 million US dollars). During the same period, Ukraine’s wine imports totaled 146.7 million US dollars.
