Two African swine fever outbreaks in Latvia

  Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on January 8, 2021, the Food and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia reported to OIE that there were two outbreaks of African swine fever in Latvia.

   The outbreak occurred in Brocenj County and Kraslava Town, which was confirmed on January 1, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. After clinical, autopsy and laboratory tests, it was found that 2 wild boars became ill. They were killed and disposed of.
   At present, the epidemic is not over. The Food and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia will submit a follow-up report every week.
