   The first working meeting of the editorial committee of the”Dietary Nutrient Reference Intakes (DRIs) for Chinese Residents” (2013 edition) was held in Beijing recently. Professor Yang Yuexin, Chairman of the Chinese Nutrition Society, Professor Yang Xiaoguang, Professor Ma Aiguo, and Professor Sun Changhao, Vice Chairman, Professor Du Songming, Secretary-General, Professor Ling Wenhua, Director of the Institute of Preventive Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor Wang Zhixu, School of Public Health, Nanjing Medical University meeting. The meeting determined the objectives, key directions, timing, and compilation of important issues for this revision, and officially launched the revision of the new version of DRIs.
  ”Dietary Nutrient Reference Intakes (DRIs) for Chinese Residents” is formulated based on a large number of research results of nutrition science. It is an important document guiding the nutrient intake targets of residents in a country, mainly to meet the needs of different ages and different Eight editions of the monograph formulated based on the nutritional needs of Chinese residents of different physical conditions have been published. This revision of DRIs is an important part of the implementation of the”National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030)” to improve the standard system. It is revised and supplemented on the basis of the 2013 version of”Chinese Residents’ Dietary Nutrient Reference Intakes”. Policies and important technical indicators, food nutrition standards, nutritional support and treatment, dietary survey guidance and evaluation, research and development of new foods, and protection of national health and reasonable intake of dietary nutrients are of great significance.
   The Chinese Nutrition Society attaches great importance to the revision of the DRIs. Under the leadership of Chairman Yang Yuexin, preparations for the revision of the ninth edition have begun in May 2020, and the chairman’s office meeting, revision consultant expert meeting and revision expert have been held successively Committee meetings, etc., unify thinking, formulate plans, and make overall plans.
  At the kick-off meeting, Chairman Yang Yuexin pointed out that the ninth edition of DRIs is expected to be revised and released in 2023. The Chinese Nutrition Society plans to use evidence-based nutrition, risk assessment and other principles and methods in the next three years to choose to include the new results of research on various nutrient DRIs at home and abroad in the past five years, as well as the research results of the recommended intake of other food ingredients , Carry out a comprehensive review of more than 60 nutrients, and introduce dietary nutrient reference intake standards that are more suitable for the current nutritional health of Chinese residents.
  The revision of DRIs continues to be supported by the Nutrilite Nutrition and Health Research Center. The third memorandum of cooperation was signed on December 22, 2020. The center will give full play to its corporate social responsibility and rely on Nutrilite’s global scientific cooperation network , Build an international academic exchange platform, share the revision progress and the latest scientific evidence of DRIs in countries and regions including the European Union, the United States and other countries and regions, and jointly promote the research of nutrients in physiological functions and nutritional status evaluation.
