Guatemala’s fishery economy is expected to grow by 5.5%in 2021

   News from FiS on January 5, according to the Guatemalan Exporters Association (Agexport) aquaculture and fisheries department forecast, Guatemala aquaculture and fisheries economic growth rate in 2021 will be 5.5%.

  Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase in the number of certifications in the aquaculture industry and the implementation of credit policies will promote the development of local fisheries.
  In the international market, the United States, the European Union and Mexico rely on Guatemalan seafood. In 2020, seafood exports will earn 215 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 18%, 15%and 14%of the three countries respectively.
