Turkmenistan Business Network reported on December 17, 2020 that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development recently provided $2.5 million in funding to Agromar, a tomato producer, to help it expand its production capacity. The tomatoes produced by Agroma are well-known brands in the Turkish domestic market and the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The company plans to use the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan to expand the scale of its hydroponic greenhouse, and plans to build another 5 hectares of greenhouse complex to increase its annual production capacity from 1,500 tons to 3,000 tons, most of which will be used for export.
The hydroponic greenhouse is an efficient technology that can ensure that plants are grown without the use of soil, better control of growth conditions and use of resources, while reducing water consumption by at least 75%.
Since its business in Turkey, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has invested 293 million euros in 80 projects in Turkey.
