   In the fourth quarter of 2020, the Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, based on the annual plan for food safety sampling and monitoring, conducted a total of 12,320 batches of food in 32 categories produced and operated within the city. Samples were inspected randomly. There were 12223 batches of qualified samples, with a pass rate of 99.21%; 97 batches of unqualified samples, with a disqualified rate of 0.79%(the unqualified food information has been disclosed in time). The pass rate of bulk foods remained basically stable.   The main problems found in random inspections are:microbial contamination, heavy metal contamination, substandard quality indicators, and excessive pesticide and veterinary drug residues. Among them, there were 3 unqualified sugars, with a disqualification rate of 4.48%, 4 unqualified pastries, with a disqualification rate of 1.39%, and the reasons for the disqualification were all microbial contamination and substandard quality indicators; 23 unqualified edible agricultural products with a disqualification rate of 1.23%, mainly due to excessive heavy metal and other elemental pollutants and excessive pesticide and veterinary drug residues; 62 catering foods were unqualified, with a disqualification rate of 1.03%, mainly due to microbial contamination.
