Food Partner Network News According to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), on January 8, 2021, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture reported to OIE that a highly pathogenic influenza A outbreak occurred in Germany .

   The outbreak occurred in the town of Freiensteinau, Vogelsberg, Hessen, and was confirmed on January 8, 2021. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Clinical and laboratory tests revealed that 138 poultry were suspected of being infected, 15 of them became ill and died, and 1 was killed and disposed of.
  The epidemic is still continuing, and the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture will submit follow-up reports every week.
