Food Partner Network News, On the afternoon of January 8, 2021, the Chinese Society for Food Science and Technology, under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology, will hold the 2020 Food Safety and Health Hotspot Scientific Interpretation Media Communication Conference. At the meeting, researcher Wu Qingping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Food Science and Technology, and honorary director of the Guangdong Institute of Microbiology, shared the hot issue of”Inadvertent consumption of poisonous mushrooms-the number one fatal factor of food safety in my country”.
Hotspot 2:Ingestion of poisonous mushrooms-the number one fatal factor of food safety in my country

  Interpretation Expert:
   Wu Qingping Researcher
Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering
Vice President of China Society of Food Science and Technology
Honorary Director of Guangdong Institute of Microbiology
Dear leaders, experts, good afternoon!
I am very happy to have this opportunity to communicate with you today. Everyone knows that there are three major factors affecting food safety. Among them, microorganisms are the most important. Among them, poisonous mushrooms are also very important pathogenic factors. At present, microbiological factors in various food poisoning account for more than 50%. In food microbiological safety, food poisoning caused by poisonous mushrooms should be said to cause the most death factors. Edible mushrooms Our country accounts for more than 70%of global production and has more than 30 million employees. Therefore, the edible mushroom industry is very important to our national industry. Solving poisonous mushrooms is not only a solution to food safety issues, but also very important to people’s health, and is also very important for the future. How to make our industry stable and long-term is also very important. But wild mushrooms must be identified. Mushrooms contain a lot of rich things. There are many varieties of edible mushrooms. Among them, there are also many poisonous mushrooms. There are four to five hundred species, of which more than 40 are highly poisonous.
We suggest that it is very important to”don’t pick, don’t buy, don’t eat” mushrooms that you don’t know are the fundamental way to prevent wild mushroom poisoning. Everyone knows that we are not experts in classifying it. It is difficult to distinguish poisonous mushrooms. Because there are thousands of varieties of mushrooms, we still have to pay great attention to them. We must not eat the ones that have not been eaten or know. Seek medical attention immediately in case of poisoning. There are seven symptoms of poisoning:gastrointestinal poisoning, liver damage, hemolysis, neuropsychiatric, renal failure, respiratory and circulatory failure, photoallergic dermatitis, etc., generally 10 The problem occurs within minutes, and the onset can be up to 6-12 hours. If dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc. occur, you must induce vomiting and seek medical attention immediately.
  We recommend:
First, the producers and operators must have the”three nos”, that is, not collecting, processing, or managing unknown mushrooms, and ensure that no poisonous mushrooms are put in the processing and management.
Second, consumers should be more vigilant, not to be greedy for a while, to eat wild mushrooms and to buy mushrooms they don’t know, and to strengthen publicity about the harmfulness of wild poisonous mushroom picking and eating.
Third, the supervision should strengthen the risk warning, especially in the wild mushroom picking period, the mushroom production and the place where wild mushrooms are picked, the supervision department should advertise, do not let everyone eat, and be warned Cards to prevent everyone from picking.
Fourth, strengthen the treatment of poisoning and the research and development of new drugs. Because there are no specific drugs, the general poisoning is induced by vomiting, gastric lavage, and catharsis. It is only possible to increase scientific and technological investment. Because the scope is not too wide, the economic benefits cannot be achieved at once, mainly because the social benefits are large, so it is very important to strengthen government input.
Above, I will give you an introduction about how to prevent and treat food safety incidents caused by poisonous mushrooms, including some suggestions. Thank you!
