Experts and friends, everyone knows that food is the most important thing for the people, and that food is the most basic raw material for food, so food security is a national strategy.
Everyone knows that there are several aspects:
1. The global undernourishment rate is increasing year by year, and food security has become an important issue facing the world.
According to data released by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the incidence of undernourishment has increased from 8.6%in 2014 to 8.9%in 2018;
The latest edition of”The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World” estimates that nearly 690 million people suffered from hunger in 2019, an increase of 10 million compared with 2018, and an increase of nearly 60 million compared with five years ago. This situation is still disturbing. Worrying.
According to the report, the COVID-19 pandemic may increase the number of chronically hungry by more than 130 million people worldwide by the end of 2020, and 841.4 million people may be at risk of undernourishment by 2030. Food security has become an important issue facing the world.
Second, the current situation of my country’s food security is good, but there is still need for a sense of danger
Since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has put forward a new food security concept of”guaranteeing basic self-sufficiency of grains and absolute safety of rations”, and has established a new concept of food security that”mainly depends on me, bases itself on the domestic”Appropriate import, supported by science and technology” national food security strategy.
This epidemic is spreading globally. One of the main reasons why our society has always remained stable is the safety and stability of food and important agricultural and sideline products.
But at the same time, under the complex situation of increasing downward pressure on the global economy and profound changes in the external environment, China’s total food demand will continue to grow in the next 30 years, and there will still be a large gap between domestic food production and demand. Food security will also face profound challenges.
First, some grains are highly dependent on imports. During the epidemic, the food supply of many countries to China has changed. The increasingly severe international environment has increased the uncertainty of the supply of imported raw materials. New forms of international trade such as China and the United States have challenged food security and raw material imports.
The second is that food waste is serious. Reasons for food waste:
On the one hand, it comes from the imperfections of the supply chain. The total amount of food wasted in the storage, transportation, and processing links in my country each year is more than 70 billion catties, that is, 5.2%of the food is wasted, which is equivalent to the annual ration of 73 million people and nearly 100 million mu of arable land;
Another aspect is food waste caused by overconsumption. Based on human favor, face, event consumption (full moon banquet/promotion banquet/teacher thank-you banquet/birthday banquet/business banquet, etc.), entertainment consumption and other food wastes need to be corrected.
Third, technology is an important means to ensure food security and reduce food waste. Food security is closely related to factors such as food waste, population growth, and the environment.
From a global perspective, agricultural production is currently squeezing the boundaries of environmental security, causing serious impacts on biological genetic diversity, nitrogen and phosphorus pollution, etc. Science and technology will play an important supporting and guaranteeing role in promoting sustainable development in the use of farmland, freshwater resources, nitrogen and phosphorus pollution.
Therefore, we must strengthen the food safety guarantee supported by the Food Science and Technology Committee, and study the”Hiding Grain in Food” project. It is necessary to accelerate the construction of a higher-level, higher-quality, more efficient, and more sustainable food security system, and actively carry out the research and development of equipment for food storage, logistics, processing and other fields to save food and reduce losses. This is all food engineering research. category. At the same time, we will vigorously develop related technologies for the intensive and deep processing of raw materials and the comprehensive utilization of by-products, and focus on accelerating the high-throughput testing and grading, energy-saving drying, preservation and loss reduction, and value-added of primary processing of bulk superior agricultural products, supporting industrial technology upgrading and value-added efficiency, and accelerating the promotion. The strategy of storing grain in the ground and storing grain in plan is implemented. At the same time, we will also study the project of storing grain in food.
Secondly, give full play to the advantages of deep processing in the food industry to realize high value and full utilization of food raw materials. Fully excavate the effective ingredients of food raw materials, use modern technology to develop new resource foods, and realize the high value and full utilization of food raw materials;
attach importance to the development and application of quality control technology in the processing process, clarify the existence form of functional factors, stabilize the form, and develop in the direction of high efficiency, energy saving, environmental protection, nutrition and health;
Strengthen the promotion and demonstration of related technological achievements, and realize reductions through technological innovation.
Third, establish a new trend of saving food and cherishing food. Further strengthen popularization and education of science, practically cultivate the habit of saving, create a good food consumption atmosphere in the whole society where saving is proud and waste is shameful, so as to cherish food, order appropriate meals, avoid leftovers, and reduce waste.
