At the same time, information is flying all over the sky. From the perspective of food and food safety, how should we understand the information that everyone sees? From an expert’s point of view, I will talk about three points:
   First, COVID-19 is a respiratory disease, not a food-borne disease. That is to say, it is not food poisoning, not eating sickness.
   There are three things about foodborne viruses, and today I will talk about foodborne diseases caused by norovirus. Obviously, new coronary pneumonia does not belong to this category. New crown pneumonia is an animal-borne infectious disease. Although the culprit comes from animals that have not been found, it is an animal-borne disease similar to bird flu, so it is not a food safety issue.
   Second, Chinese scientists have made great efforts to find contaminated items for the first time in the world. If human contact, the virus is still alive, and there is a certain amount of it, which can cause people to contract new coronary pneumonia. . This is in Qingdao, not too big. A clustered outbreak of more than a dozen people proved that epidemiological evidence is very lacking, because dock workers touched the surface of imported frozen food packaging, and the surface of frozen food was not only positive for nucleic acid. Moreover, a live virus was isolated and cultivated, and the DNA sequence of this live virus was homologous to the dozen patients who later spread in Qingdao, that is to say, the porter at that dock spread to a dozen. Of course, he didn’t pass it from person to person. Therefore, for the first time, China has proved that things can pass from person to person, but it should be pointed out that this probability is very low and very low.    Third, the entire production work of the food industry is a very important link, especially for workers who carry imported goods. If the preventive measures are not in place, that is to say, if the precautions are not in place, that is to say, no masks, no gloves, and no thorough hand washing after work. Then the chance of being infected through material transmission is relatively high. This does not mean that people who eat imported food will be infected. This is another matter.
  New crown pneumonia is not a food safety issue for food safety, but from a scientific point of view, the impact on food safety is still quite large, because it can contaminate the surface of food packaging, and of course there is a small amount of possible contamination. The food itself, although the chance of spreading to people is very small, but from the perspective of food safety, we must prevent cross-infection. In the entire food chain, we do not want the virus to be transmitted from the source down, so this is a challenge to food safety. .
   So, my suggestion:
   First, it is necessary to vigorously carry out scientific publicity activities for scientific epidemic prevention, so that consumers can correctly understand the epidemic characteristics and transmission methods of new coronary pneumonia, and it is not something to eat. Don’t be afraid to buy and prepare frozen foods, including frozen seafood and frozen meats, don’t be afraid, because the probability of contamination is very low. You may think this is not the case, because I heard a lot in the past few months, and it has been detected many times in many places in the country. Nucleic acid-positive samples have been detected on the outer packaging of food. Researcher Li Ning will talk about this later. Yes, because the nucleic acid is still positive after death, so you don’t need to be afraid, of course, you still have to talk about some hygiene and epidemic prevention measures.
  Second, in order to prevent food from being contaminated by viruses and cross-contamination in the food chain, consumers should follow the five elements of food safety of the World Health Organization. These five elements are:keep clean, separate raw and cooked, and thoroughly Cook food, safe water and food ingredients at a safe temperature. These five items were originally intended to prevent food-borne diseases, but they are used to avoid new coronavirus contamination and cross-contamination in the food chain. Regardless of whether it causes consumer infections, it is always necessary to control its contamination, because under the current situation, food It is impossible not to be contaminated at all.
   Third, food companies are very important. They must strictly abide by the relevant regulations issued by the government, and attach great importance to the protection of employees and the cleaning and disinfection of the production environment. The State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism has issued at least 8 regulations and notices in this area so far, including guidelines for the prevention and control of the new crown epidemic for meat food processing enterprises, guidelines for environmental monitoring of the farmers’ market virus, guidelines for the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in the farmers’ market, and cold The notification of the traceable nucleic acid testing of chain foods, the production and operation of cold chain foods, etc., and even include disinfection guidelines, comprehensive preventive disinfection plans for imported cold chain foods, etc. I think as long as the requirements of such documents are followed, the cross-contamination of the new coronavirus in the entire food chain can be prevented.
